What is an Oklahoma License Plate?
Service Oklahoma issues license plates and manages vehicle registration in the state according to Section 47 of the Oklahoma Statutes. Drivers perform registration operations at local licensed operators (tag agencies) throughout the state or at the Service Oklahoma office in Oklahoma City.
The current standard design is the Iconic Oklahoma plate, introduced on September 1, 2024. Oklahoma residents can order it for a replacement fee of $4 at annual renewal or $9 outside the renewal window. All license plates use reflective material as required by 47 O.S. § 1113(B)(3).

- License plates cannot be covered, overlaid, or screened by any material, whether clear, tinted, or opaque. Operating a vehicle with an obscured plate is a separate violation under the same statute.
